RHYME SCHEME

  • The patterns of rhyming words at the end of lines in a poem or stanza.

  • Steps to finding rhyme scheme:

    • Identify all the words at the end of all of the lines in the stanza or poem you are doing (underline them)

    • Assign the letter 'A' to the first line, automatically

    • Look at the other lines and see if any of them rhyme with A. If they do, they also get the letter A.

    • The next blank line gets the letter 'B'.

    • Look to see if other lines rhyme with B. If so, they also get the letter B.

    • Repeat until all lines are assigned a letter.

    • The rhyme scheme is all the letters put together in the order that they are in the poem.

Multiple Choice

I come with no wrapping or pretty pink bows.

I am who I am, from my head to my toes.

I tend to get loud when speaking my mind.

Even a little crazy some of the time.

I'm not a size 5 and don't care to be.

You can be you and I can be me.

I try to stay strong when pain knocks me down.

And the times that I cry are when no one's around.

To error is human or so that's what they say.

Well, tell me who's perfect anyway.

What would be a theme of this poem?

Love conquers all

2

3
