The Arab League Contributions

​Political Contribution:

​The Arab League has coordinated the policy, mediated disputes among Arab states.

​for e.g

The Arab League influenced the 1948 declaration of war against Israel.

​The joint Defense and Economic Cooperation Treaty was signed in 1950.

​The League also played a role in dispute resolution between Lebanon, Sudan, Somalia and Palestine.

​Economical Contributions:

​Promotion of Economic integration, such as the declaration of the Joint Arab Economic Action Charter which sets out the principles for economic activities.

​

​The League solved the disputes between Syria and Iraq with Turkey.(It had restricted their water supply of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers in 1996)

​The Arab League Council determined that Iraq, Syria and Turkey should equitably share water between them.

​Social and Cultural Contributions:

​The Arab League has contributed in:

Shaping schools curriculum.

​Empowering women in the Arab societies.

​Promoting child welfare.

​Encouraging youth and sports programs.

​Preserving cultural heritage.

​Launching literacy and intellectual works.

Parliament:​

​It is a group of elected members who meet together to discuss political issues, therefore it has power on all political bodies.

​

It has three functions,

1. Representing the electorate.

2. ​Supreme Laws making power.

3. ​Overseeing the Government.

​The current speaker of the Arab Parliament is Adel Al Asoomi (of Bahrain)
