The VSA Academic Honesty Policy

The VSA Academic Honesty Policy requires that you use MLA when citing and referencing. The latest version is MLA 9.

Make sure that you cite all sources that you use, both by using in-text citations and including references on your Works Cited page. This includes words, images, data, charts, tables, theorems - anything that is not your own work.

Note that the following all constitute plagiarism:

  • No quotes plus in-text citation = Plagiarism

  • Incorrect placement of quotes = Plagiarism

  • Substituting single words for synonyms  = Plagiarism

3

Key Terms

  • Sources & References / 參考文獻 : A source is any place you get information from (website, book, person); a reference is how you list a source in a Kor works cited page. You should write all your references in MLA format.

  • Works Cited page/引用文獻 : A list of references for all the sources that you have used in your assignment.

  • Plagiarism / 剽竊, 抄襲: Copying someone else’s words or ideas without acknowledging them.

  • Paraphrasing /改述, 改寫 : Rewriting someone else’s words or ideas in your own words.
