​Alignment

  • Alignment in dance is the state of controlling the body in its’ correct relative condition. This means the abdominal muscles are engaged, shoulders are pressed down and ears over shoulders and hips.

    • Correct posture will help you achieve more body control, balance and flexibility as well as minimise the chance of injury or long-term pain.

  • Foot alignment in Parallel – is a commonly used foot position that describes when turnout is not used. Parallel means heels and toes aligned straight forwards.
