TYPES OF LOCOMOTOR MOVEMENTS

​the feet move the body from one place to another.

• Running is a faster locomotor skill. During a run, the feet are both in the air at the same time. The feet alternate moving forward during the skill.

​Going up and down, with both feet in the air at once; can also mean jumping off a height or jumping forward

​Moving up and down on one foot

​Alternating steps and hops

​Marching refers to the organized, uniformed, steady walking forward in either rhythmic or route-step time; and, typically

​rotating the body over the substrate

​Sliding is a sideways movement
