Rules and Laws 1
Rules and laws are very similar to each other. They are both something in which we have to abide1 by. Typically a rule is made by a group and affects only people in that group, for example: school rules, sports rules, family rules. Rules are typically set to keep you and others safe. A Law is made by the government and affects everybody in society. For example: Do not steal from another person. Laws have
to be obeyed by everyone in the community.

Rules and Laws 2
The major differences between a rule and a law are the consequences associated with not following them. For example: if you break a rule at school, you might get detention. If you break a law you are most likely to be fined or go to jail. Typically if you break a law the consequence of breaking that law is much greater than breaking a rule.
