Ratios

*a comparison of two things/values.
says how much of one thing there is compared to another thing.
we us ratios in real-life everyday!

Examples:
There are 3 blue squares to 1 green square
There are 2 boys to 6 girls in class.
The ratio of students to teachers is 3 : 4
The ratio of flour to milk is 3/2

3

Ratios can be written 3 ways:

1. Word Form - 3 to 4

2. Fraction Form - 3/4

3. Colon - 3 : 4

You can use the Proportion Method-CROSS MULTIPLY to find the missing number in a ratio, or to find if the ratios are equal.

12

Cross Multiply

Multiply diagonally to see if the cross products are PROPORTIONAL/EQUAL
