8

Selecting the BEST evidence

Stay on topic. You can usually tell when a chunk of text is about to be off-topic and pointless in relation to the prompt. I will model this process during the lesson.

9

How to CITE EVIDENCE

  • Try these terms!

  • If you are introducing your quote and the word before the quotation mark is a verb, such as "writes" "says" "explains" etc. then you need a comma.

  • On page three, the author writes, "______"

  • According to the author "_______"

10

Evaluating a Prompt: What do I do?

  • It's informational. I need to focus on the Rover itself and some crater when I read both sources.

  • My essay will be four paragraphs at least.

  • I need to cite from at least 2 of the 3 sources.

Task: Preview Source 1 vs. 2

  • Assign one card per source--see picture. You can do this on a word document if needed.

  • Jot down the title of source 1 on one card along with the author

  • Repeat for card 2.
