  • Each symbol has a specific way to graph on a number line.

  • There are 2 categories to consider when graphing:

  • Circle Type: Open / Closed

  • Direction: Left / Right

Included vs. Not Included

On a number line you can show if a solution or number is included by the dot used. Your dot will land on the number in the solution. There are 2 types:


+ Open Circle - meaning NOT included

+ Closed Circle - meaning IS included

  • The Arrow goes in the same directions as your inequality symbol

  • Left Arrow: < or <

  • Right Arrow: > or >
