Parts of a Sentence

• Sentences can be broke into smaller parts.

• The SUBJECT of a sentence is what or who the sentence is about.

• The PREDICATE of a sentence tells what happens in a sentence.

Examples - Subject and Predicate

• Mr. Norton recycles all of his cans and bottles.

• Curtis took a picture of Calypso with his phone.

• The Anacostia River flows through Washington, DC.

• Four raccoons, three chipmunks, and a skunk live in my backyard.
