Recap

After President Abraham Lincoln’s assasination, Vice President Andrew Johnson took over the presidency. Johnson carried out Lincoln’s Reconstruction plan by first passing the 13th Amendment (Abolished Slavery). Confederate states had to ratify both the 13th and 14th (Granted blacks citizenship) in order to rejoin the Union. The 15th amendment gave black males the right to vote.
