Different states of Matter
Matter is the scientific word for what everything is made of.
Matter can be found in 3 different states: Solid, Liquid and Gases.
Solid matter in a fixed shape.
Liquid is not in a fixed shape, it takes the shape of the container.
Gas also has no fixed shape and they spread out more easily
Your body contains the 3 states of matter: bones and teeth are solid, blood & tears are liquid, and lungs contains gas.

3.2 Water
Water can exist in the 3 stages. Solid - ice, liquid - runny water, gas - steam.
We call water gas in the air: vapour.
When water changes from a liquid to a gas or solid to a liquid, we say it undergoes a change of state.
4
Solid, Liquid & Gas in the water cycle.
Liquid form - rain and water in the sea and lakes.
Solid form - snow and hail
Gases form - vapour

3.3 Heating Matter
When you warm up solids such as ice and butter it changes into a liquid.
When a solid changes into a liquid we say it has melted.
Gold can be heated under very high temperature and change from a solid to a liquid.
6
3.4 Cooling Matter
When a liquid is cooled enough it turns into a solid.
We say it solidifies or Freezes.
Freezing is the reverse of melting.
Melting and freezing are changes of state.
Since a solid can change to a liquid and back to a solid we say the state is reversible.
