Disparities in IMR: Infant Mortality Rate (how many babies die before age 1)
Infant mortality among whites ranges from 2.52 per 100,000 in DC to 7.04 per 100,000 in Arkansas;
among blacks, the range is 8.27 per 100,000 in Massachusetts to 14.28 per 100,000 in Wisconsin.
In other words, the lowest state infant mortality rate for blacks is greater than the highest state rate for whites.
Black Americans have higher death rates than whites for all causes of mortality in all age groups up to age 65.5
