The Noun Family
Nouns: words that represent people, places, things and ideas! (sister, dog, home, sadness)
Pronouns: words that take the places of people, places, things, and ideas! (he/she/it/they/them/himself, etc.)
Adjectives: words that describe, provide condition for, or modify people, places, things, or ideas! (The dog was small.)

The Verb Family
Verbs: words that demonstrate action that nouns/pronouns do (to jump) or link nouns/pronouns with adjectives or other nouns (to be, to become, and so on).

Adverbs: words that describe or modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs (jumped high). They often end in -ly.
