EYE SENSORS

  • The Eye Sensor can detect if there is an object present, and if so, detect the color of the object (red, green, blue, none).

  • A VR Robot has two Eye Sensors - a Front Eye Sensor and a Down Eye Sensor. The Front Eye Sensor is mounted in front of the VR Robot and faces forward.

  • The Down Eye Sensor is mounted below the VR Robot and faces downward.

3

Multiple Choice

Which of the following is the best description of what the Eye Sensor does

1

It reports the (X,Y) position of the VR Robot.

2

It reports the distance between the VR Robot and the nearest solid object.

3

It can be controlled to pick up and drop disks with metal cores.

4

It detects if there is an object present and if so, the color of that object.

4

Multiple Choice

Question image

Which two sensors are being pointed to on the VR Robot?

1

The Left and Right Bumper Sensors.

2

The Front Eye and Down Eye Sensors.

3

The Electromagnet and Location Sensors.

4

The Distance and Front Eye Sensors.

5

Multiple Choice

What value will the <Color sensing> Boolean block report when the Eye Sensor detects a different color than the one that was selected?

1

It will report the time elapsed of the project in seconds.

2

It will report the current heading in degrees of the VR Robot.

3

It will report the current heading in degrees of the VR Robot. It will report FALSE.

4

It will report TRUE

6

EYE SENSORS

  • The <Eye Sensor near object> block is a Boolean reporter block that reports TRUE when the Eye Sensor is close to an object that has detectable colors and reports FALSE if the Eye Sensor is not close to an object that has detectable colors.

  • The Front or Down Eye Sensor can be selected from the drop-down menu on the <Eye Sensor near object> block.

  • The <Color sensing> block reports if one of the Eye Sensors detects a specific color.

7

Multiple Choice

What value will the <Eye Sensor near object> Boolean block report when the Eye Sensor is close to an object that has detectable colors?

1

It will report TRUE

2

It will report FALSE.

3

It will report how far in millimeters (mm) or inches the Eye Sensor is from the object.

4

It will report the location angle of the VR Robot in degrees.

8

Conditionals

  • [If then] blocks are conditional statements that instruct the VR Robot to make a decision if a specified condition is TRUE.

  • The [If then] block is a C block that accepts Boolean reporter blocks as input.

9

Multiple Choice

Question image

What is the purpose of having multiple [If then] blocks in this project?

1

To have the Electromagnet Sensor pick up and place disks.

2

To be able to have the Down Eye Sensor check for the color red.

3

To have the Distance Sensor report how far the VR Robot is from an object.

4

To have the Front Eye Sensor check for each color and have the VR Robot perform a discrete behavior depending on the color detected.

10

Multiple Choice

Question image

In this project, if the condition of the Down Eye detecting red is TRUE, how will the VR Robot move?

1

It will turn right for 115 degrees.

2

It will drive forward forever.

3

It will turn left for 115 degrees.

4

It will stop driving.

11

Multiple Choice

Question image

In this project, how many times will the [Drive] block be repeated?

1

It will be repeated forever.

2

It will repeat 100 times.

3

It will repeat 90 times.

4

It will repeat once.

12

Multiple Choice

Question image

Describe why a [Forever] block is used in this project.

1

To continuously check if the VR Robot Pen is up or down.

2

To continuously check if the VR Robot is near an object with detectable colors.

3

To continuously check if the VR Robot Pen is up or down. To continuously check if the VR Robot is near an object with detectable colors. To draw the color blue with the VR Robot Pen.

4

To report if the Bumper Sensors are being pressed.

13

Multiple Choice

Question image

What condition will be checked next if the condition of the Front Eye Sensor detecting blue is FALSE?

1

The condition of the Front Eye Sensor detecting green will be checked.

2

The condition of the Down Eye Sensor detecting red will be checked.

3

The condition of the Front Eye Sensor detecting none will be checked.

4

The condition of the Front Eye Sensor detecting red will be checked.
