WELL, the electoral college is...

  • the system by which the president and vice president of the United States are chosen

  • was created by the framers of the United States Constitution to provide a method of election that was consistent with a republican form of government. 

  • by choosing electors, most states adopted a general-ticket system in which slates of partisan electors were selected on the basis of a statewide vote.
