Continuing with example #2:

( 1 , 2 ) and ( 1 , -7 )

With 2 and -7 having opposite signs, we add the absolute values together. |2| + |-7| = 2 + 7 = 9. So, our line is 9 units long.

The x-coordinates are the same (1). It is a VERTICAL line.
