What are the language features of procedure text?

  • Simple Present Tense:

    This tense is used to state facts about the process being described, such as "This is how you make it". 

  • Imperative Sentences:

    These are command sentences that directly tell the reader what to do, such as "Cut the onion," "Boil the water," or "Mix the ingredients". 

  • Action Verbs:

    Verbs that describe an action are crucial for imperative sentences. Examples include put, take, cut, mix, and pour. 

  • Connectives/Conjunctions:

    These words link sentences and steps, creating a logical flow for the reader. Common examples are first, second, then, after that, and finally. 

  • Adverbials:

    These add detail about time, place, or manner. For example, "stir for five minutes" or "pour slowly" provides specific instructions.
