The order that all operations on every expression or equation must be done in order to correctly simplify - PEMA - Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication (division), Addition (Subtraction) from left to right.

Distributive property of Multiplication over addition

using two operations, we multiply or divide over the parentheses, and it always has parentheses. (L3)

Equivalent expressions

“look” different but are just algebraic manipulations of each other, using the properties of REAL numbers.

“undistribute” - means divide by!

Greatest Common Factor (GCF)

the largest number that all terms can be divided by.

Have the exact same variables and exponents. (but can have different coefficients) ex. 3x and 2x are like terms, but not 3x and 2x2.

a superscript, small number above a constant or variable, indicating repeated multiplication. 53 = 5*5*5 or 3x2 = 3 * x*x

in order of greatest exponent to least exponent.
