Direct Digital Control (DDC)

A type of closed-loop control system that uses microprocessors connected to sensors and actuators.

A type of memory that can be erased and reprogrammed. An EEPROM chip on a computer board is a type of read-only memory (ROM).

integrated circuit (IC) sensor

An integrated circuit sensor has a temperature transducer that converts the temperature input into a proportional current output.

A condition where the resistance of a sensor decreases as the temperature increases, or inversely, increases as the temperature decreases.

Variable Air Volume (VAV) Control

A type of control system used to vary the temperature and airflow to a specific zone for comfort and energy savings.

Variable Frequency Drive (VFD)

A Variable Frequency Drive receives an analog signal from the CPU and adjusts a fan or pump motor speed in response to the value of the signal.

A type of memory in a board or computer chip that is cleared when the electrical power source is removed.
