Sam is a manager in an office.
She wants to buy 14 new chairs.
Each chair costs £73
Sam will also be charged 20% VAT on the cost of the chairs.
Work out the total cost for the 14 chairs with VAT.

Hint:
Without calculator:
To find 20%:
- find 10% (divide by 10)
- then time by 2 ( 10% x 2 = 20%)
- then add to original price
With a calculator:
- to add 20% it is the same as 100% + 20% = 120%
- 120% = 120/100 = 1.2
- so you can do : price x 1.2

10% is : 73 ÷ 10 = 7.3
7.3 x 2 = 14.6
73 + 14.6 = 87.6
as there are 14 chairs:
87.6 x 14 = 1226.4
cost £1,226.40
