Gather as much information as possible. Look for information in books, on the internet, and by talking with teachers.

Predict the answer to the problem. An educated guess, often stated as "If I...then...".

Test/Experiment

Design a procedure to test your hypothesis. Set up experiments and observe results over time.

Record what happened during the experiment. Analyze all of the information, known as data.

Conclusion

Review the data to check if your hypothesis was correct. Even if the hypothesis was wrong, you still discovered something.

"The cause". The part of your experiment that you will test (vary).

"The effect". What occurs in response to the changing independent variable.
