What is the Carbon Cycle?

o A biogeochemical cycle in which photosynthesis occurs. The oxygen and glucose made from photosynthesis is converted into CO2 and H20. The plants then decompose to release carbon, and fossil fuels burn to also release carbon.

What is the Sulfur Cycle?

o Organic sulfur is converted into inorganic sulfur. Inorganic sulfur is oxidized into sulfate. Sulfate is converted into sulfide. Sulfate is then incorporated into organic compounds.

What is the Nitrogen Cycle?
Back
o N2 gas is converted into organic compounds. Nitrogen gets assimilated by plants and gets eaten by animals. The waste then gets decomposed, and the waste holds ammonia, which gets decomposed by nitrifying bacteria into nitrates. Those nitrates get turned back into nitrogen by denitrifying bacteria.
